“Integrations-Memo” game receives Fundraising Award

Memo

The Fundraising Verband Austria recognised exceptional projects in the field of donor communications at last night’s 2017 Fundraising Awards. Diakonie Austria’s “Integrations-Memo” game won through and was named the “Online Campaign of the Year”. The project was created by the Vienna-based agency Identum, and hopes to give new arrivals in Austria a taste of the country’s features and characteristics in an enjoyable way.

Diakonie’s “Integrations-Memo” board game brings together one of today’s most popular board games with a worthwhile societal application. As well as teaching the German language in a playful context, the game also provides original insights into Austrian cultural and heritage to make it easier for players – younger refugees in particular – to become a part of society. With much blood, sweat and tears – and the support of various Austrian celebrities – Identum realised the project in collaboration with Diakonie Austria. The results are proof that comparatively little funding can still make a big difference in helping refugees. This achievement has now been recognised with the Fundraising Award.
